Clinical genetic counseling services are provided to patients in person or via telephone or secure videoconferencing. Scheduling is flexible, including day, evening and weekend hours across many time zones. Patient counseling is available to individuals who are referred with personal or family history indications.

Clinical services include:

  • Risk assessment via thorough review of medical and family history information
  • Discussion of the benefits and limitations of various genetic testing options
  • Coordination of genetic testing, including assistance with test requisitions, insurance authorizations and specimen collection
  • Explanation of genetic test results to patients and their families
  • Patient education and psychosocial support
  • Communication with referring healthcare providers through useful and concise consultation summaries
  • Patient and/or provider follow-up as needed
